Greenford's Collective Statements

What does ‘clean and pleasant’ mean to Greenford – collective statements and emerging ideas

As part of the development of Your Voice, Your Town in Greenford, residents, businesses, faith and community organisations took part in a workshop at Stanhope Primary school, where people shared their project ideas and their thoughts on what a ‘clean and pleasant area’ means to them.

The groups created a series of ‘collective statements’ to help shape how Your Voice, Your Town Greenford could help communities take action to create a more ‘clean and pleasant’ Greenford. These statements have been used by Greenford’s Town Team, to set the criteria for future community-led projects. They are not exhaustive but provide valuable insights about what matters most to local residents and communities.

If you are inspired by the collective statements, you might want to apply to the Your Voice, Your Town Greenford Connect Our Community Fund where money is available for projects that will help make Greenford clean and pleasant – find out more.

Ravenor / Grove farm recreational park café

Goal

“Safer cleaner streets and spaces where communities can come together and interact physically and mentally“

“A community cafe located at a site that includes an allotment and a sensory garden. The goal is to establish a sustainable green space where individuals can engage with the environment, maintain the land, and interact with others while having food and drink.“

Community connection hub of inter-generational activities

Goal

“Taking pride – The area looks and feels cared for and appealing, where people are empowered to take pride in their town .“

Project ideas

“Establish a warm hub for the elderly which takes place during the day offering activities such as gardening, cooking and games, which also offers activities to other age groups too outside of these hours. An after-school hub where children can grab a drink and a snack and also take part in gardening, which encourages them to grow their own food and litter picks with their parents to keep the streets tidy. Create a space for inter-generational activity.“

Active start for a greener Greenford

Goal

“Every neighbourhood has indoor and outdoor inclusive community spaces, where people can connect and the whole neighbourhood is clean safe and connected with the communities people need for daily life.“

Project ideas

“This project aims to provide safe, healthy and enjoyable after-school activities for children, reducing stress and easing traffic congestion during pick-up times. By offering structured youth and community clubs, it supports both children’s mental well-being and broader community engagement. The initiative will encourage young people to participate in positive active group activities rather than loitering outside school premises.“

Get to know your Greenford – annual fringe festival and ongoing communication to keep people informed about what is happening locally

Goal

“A Greenford which is greener and safer for the future, is a Greenford that is more informed and engaged.“

Project ideas

“Share information about all the activities happening in Greenford using both online and offline methods. This will help more people find out what’s going on and encourage them to join in or add their own ideas. Hold a yearly festival where every activity is shown together, so everyone can see what’s available. Also, share updates on council notice boards, digital screens, and local social media pages.“
