Introducing the Acton Town Team
Over the summer, local people were invited to apply to become a member of Acton’s Town Team. Town Team members were selected from different geographies, ages, ethnicities, and affiliations to different groups to build a diverse and ambitious team that understand and can reach different parts of the communities. Members of the Town Team who had been part of the Town Team in 2025/26 could apply to stay involved and continue their journey of community powered change.
A selection of councillors are nominated by their political party to be part of each Town Team, based on the size of the Town, and local mix of representation. Other local councillors are kept up to date with activities and can be part of delivery activities.
As of July 2026, Acton’s Town Team has 22 members – a diverse mix or people all passionate about Acton and working together to make real change.
How does the Acton Town Team work together
Being a Town Team member is a voluntary role, and each member must sign up to a participation agreement to help us work together. Building on the work in 2025/2026, the new Acton Town Team met to decide how they wanted to work together. They established a set of ways of working that shape how they work:

- respect – valuing different opinions, which includes:

- conflict resolution – resolving conflict for collective decision-making
- transparency
- innovation – being challenging, new ideas and being aspirational
- accountability – taking responsibility for decisions
- sustainability – long-term impacts
- challenge.
Acton’s town priority and community fund
In 2025/26 – Acton Town Team supported ideas with £120,000 of funding, to enable a more clean and pleasant Acton. We will be sharing stories and learning from these projects soon, but find out more about these projects here.
To plan their work for 2026/27, the Acton Town Team have been reviewing progress to date, assessing what is going on locally, reviewing key research and insight including data from the council and other public services, as well as listening to feedback from residents and local organisations. Critically the Town Team also have a broad reach and range of lived experiences, and perspectives about the Town.
Working together, the Town Team have decided that over the next year they will focus on driving forward community powered change by Unlocking the Power of Local Ideas in Acton to align with one of four themes:
- increasing safety;
- support and activities for young people;
- community cohesion and connections;
- and the local environment (e.g. litter, fly-tipping, graffiti, pollution, or new or enhanced green spaces).
Ideas must embed the Acton Effect ethos including:
- Bring different groups together (based on age, cultural background or geographical location within Acton).
- Highlight an aspect of Acton Town that will make its residents proud to live in the town.
- Adequately represent the diversity of the town.
- Bridge divides and help to bring people together.
- Celebrate Acton’s character or improve its appeal, and appeal to a wide and diverse representation of the Acton population.
- Help to tell Acton’s story.
