Walking Perivale-Your Voice Your Town

Ongoing Project

This project will deliver three guided walks in different parts of Perivale – the Wadsworth Road area, the Bilton Road area and the older part including St Mary’s Church.

Our focus for each area we explore will be on how clean and pleasant (or otherwise) the area feels to the participants and to those we might meet.

The aim for all our walks is to find out about a lesser known area while bringing diverse people together to learn from and about one another.

The walks are short in distance with frequent stops and last about two hours starting at 11am on the day. They are followed by an optional stop at a local café to give people a further opportunity to socialize.

On the walks we will inform people about the history and all the changes that have taken place in the given area as well as seeking the opinions and observations of those present and their memories if they are older residents.

The walks will be led by Joanna Dudzinska, the founder of Talking and Exploring and of the Ealing Walking Talking and Exploring Group on Facebook, with the help of Anthony Smith and with the support from interested community members. The group is a space to keep in touch, share and to document our walks and events.

The three Perivale walks will take place as follows :

  • The Wadsworth Road (old industrial) area on Sunday June 28th. Meeting outside St Nicholas’ Church at 11am and then taking a gentle stroll to the Hoover Building with lots of stops and meanders in between.
  • The Bilton Road (Perivale’s High Street) area on Saturday August 1st. Meeting at Horsenden Farm at 11am then walking to Bilton Road and along to the canal before back tracking to Aintree Road.
  • The ‘Medieval Bit’ on Sunday August 30th. Meeting at Perivale Station at 11am and then taking an indirect route to St Mary’s Church the other side of Western Avenue.

The walks are advertised on the Talking and Exploring’s Eventbrite page.

Usually we just advertise walks publicly but for these walks we have created both public and private tickets, with the private ones meant for individuals connected with local organisations who are or can be given the link for them.

For each walk we would welcome the involvement of anyone who knows the particular area well. This is how you can reach us: https://www.talkingandexploring.online/contact.html.

How you can help

Our marketing and IT skills are rather limited so any help there would be greatly appreciated; also in getting the news of our walks to as many people as possible. Besides, we would appreciate help with telling more local residents about the upcoming walks. On the walks we always need help with ‘marshalling’ the walkers and with easing communication with all who come on the walks.
