English Classes for All – Havelock Estate, Southall Ealing

Ongoing Project

Bridging Communities Through Language – Get Involved!

Who:
Asian Community Concern, in partnership with Ealing Council, is delivering free ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) classes for refugees, asylum seekers, and local residents whose first language is not English.

What:
This initiative offers supportive and accessible English classes designed to help participants build their language skills, increase confidence, and improve their ability to engage with everyday services — from visiting a GP to supporting their children in school.

Where:
Classes are held at Havelock Estate, Southall, one of the most diverse yet deprived areas in Ealing, where the need for such support is especially high.

When:
The pilot project launched in early 2025, and after a successful first term, we are continuing with sessions throughout the year. Classes are currently held weekly, with growing interest from participants to add more sessions. Based on the feedback of present participants and local residents,, several male participants have expressed interest in evening classes that would better accommodate their work schedules. This highlights a growing need for flexible learning opportunities that can reach even more members of our community — especially those juggling jobs or other responsibilities during the day.

Why:
We believe that language is key to inclusion, independence, and opportunity. By improving English skills, we’re empowering individuals to better navigate life in the UK and actively engage in their community.

How You Can Get Involved:

  • Volunteers: We’re looking for friendly volunteers to help support the classes or assist with outreach.

  • Donations & Space: If you can offer resources, teaching space, or materials, we’d love to hear from you.

  • Spread the Word: Know someone who could benefit? Help us reach more learners by sharing this opportunity.
