Ongoing Project
Friends of Horsenden is a group of local volunteers who look after Horsenden Farm and the Horsenden nature reserve, working closely with Ealing Council Parks Service.
Horsenden Farm is a small working community farm, and the wider Horsenden nature reserve has ancient and secondary woodlands, meadows, wetlands, hedgerows, and other natural habitats.
New volunteers are always welcome to help us look after the Horsenden site – whether it’s gardening or vegetable growing at the farm, or habitat creation/restoration or ecological surveys or conservation work in the Horsenden green spaces, there are always lots of interesting projects and jobs that will get you outdoors and active. The volunteering community is friendly and welcoming, so please get in touch if you’re interested in joining!

Friends of Horsenden is thrilled to announce that we have been funded by the Greenford Your Voice Your Town initiative from Ealing Council. We’ve been awarded £5k to help us expand our community event and education capabilities by purchasing outdoor chairs and a PA/speaker system.
We’ll be organising several community events throughout the funding year (and ongoingly, afterward), and educational sessions, with this new infrastructure and equipment.
We believe it’s important to bring the local community together at seasonal festivals, fairs and celebrations; people get to meet other local folk and local small organisations and charities, and local crafters of all kinds. Coming together in this way reminds us that the neighbourhood is full of good people and that the area is bristling with exciting projects to get involved in!
Coming to the farm for events is one of the main ways that people who haven’t been to Horsenden Farm before can be introduced to this wonderful community project and the several small charities and micro-businesses that make up the site.
We also believe that hosting and leading on education for young people and adults is important, in areas of nature and ecology, environmentally friendly food and flower growing, and traditional crafts that tie in with the long term nature-friendly management of local land.
We’re particularly excited about all of the free community events and educational sessions we’ll be able to host with this support that wouldn’t have been possible before; sessions including working with partners like Ealing Wildlife Group, MindFood, and Citizen Zoo, and local nature experts, as well as our own volunteers and community members.
