Ongoing Project
Who we are
W4 Youth is a community-led charity based in Acton, supporting young people aged 11–19 through free sports, arts, and youth support activities. We provide a safe, welcoming environment where young people can build confidence, improve wellbeing, and feel part of a positive community.
What we are going to do
Our project, Game Changer 2026, will expand our current programme to run seven days a week at Southfield Recreation Ground. We will extend our opening hours to 4–7pm on weekdays and 3–7pm on weekends, adding 15 extra hours of free activities each week. This includes football, boxing fitness, basketball, street dance, and youth support sessions, all delivered by trained coaches and youth workers.
Why we want to do this
There is a clear need for more free, safe, and structured activities for young people in Acton, particularly at weekends. Our current sessions are at capacity, and feedback from young people, families, schools, and the local community consistently highlights the demand for more provision. Many families cannot afford paid clubs, and without accessible alternatives, young people are at risk of isolation or negative influences. Expanding our programme will directly respond to this need.
What we are most excited about
We are most excited about creating a truly consistent, safe space for young people every day of the week. This project will transform Southfield Recreation Ground into a vibrant hub of positive activity, increasing community pride, improving wellbeing, and strengthening connections between young people from diverse backgrounds. We are particularly excited about reaching more young people and seeing the long-term impact on their confidence, relationships, and opportunities.
How people can get involved
There are many ways to get involved. Local residents can volunteer to support sessions or events, helping create a welcoming environment for young people. Individuals and organisations can donate W4 Youth to help sustain and grow the programme. Community members can also spread the word, encourage young people to attend, and partner with us to expand opportunities. Together, we can create a safer, stronger Acton for young people.
