Your Voice, Your Perivale

Your Voice, Your Town is building on the community wealth that already exists in Perivale. It is bringing people, voluntary and faith groups, schools, and businesses together to work on the issues that are most important to them. Local people were asked to vote for their important issue, or town priority, where they want to focus their skills, resources, and funding

The choices were Clean and Pleasant Area, Community Facilities, Supporting Community Life – young people, civic life, community activity, Development-retail offer, Feeling Safe, Climate Change, Job Opportunities

Collective Statements & Emerging Ideas from the community

In February people were invited to participate in a workshop at Perivale Hive, where they shared their thoughts on what a 'Clean and Pleasant Area' means to them and to collaborate on reaching a shared understanding of their town priority.

These collective statements will be shared with Perivale's Town Team, to help set the criteria for future community-led projects. Residents then worked together to think of project ideas that met their collective goals The emerging ideas offer a glimpse of the type of projects people are enthusiastic about leading and participating in.

Community enforces cleanliness, provides a place for people to congregate socially and drink after work, as an alternative to street drinking and littering

“We need a clean and friendly environment with lots of nature, trees, and flowers. Safe roads, proper parking, and no littering are essential. Safer streets, traffic control (especially at Bilton Rd with different types of roads)”

Perivale Use Their Voices; Shout loud and Get Response!

A two-way communication mechanism to help people get a response from local services, such as local GP's, the mental health team, leisure centres, social workers for the elderly and help for single parents.

“We need cleaner streets with cameras, more lights, and various bins located around Perivale. Addressing unsocial behaviour, fly tipping, and street drinking is crucial. CCTV, a council app, and play areas are necessary solutions”

Develop a Co-op with council workers, volunteers, and community to mitigate the drainage/flooding at Medway Village and Ealing Central Sports Ground.

Set up friends of Ealing Central Sports Ground and Medway Village Residents Association.

“We need more bins, dog poo bins, more CCTV, better lighting, playground refurbishment, and outdoor gym equipment. Addressing the dumping of HS2 soil, drainage (floods), and non-native soil is essential. Removal of Grayline containers, planting more water-tolerant trees, and creating flower beds are required solutions”

Perivale's Community

The Grand Union Canal, which winds through Perivale, offers a picturesque setting for boating, cycling, and leisurely walks. Close by, at the foot of Horsenden Hill, Apply Day has become an annual Perivale tradition. Hosted by the community led Friends of Horsenden Farm, it’s one of many events they manage every year, and whether you are eating pizza, drinking Perivale Tap’s locally brewed ale or walking the Gruffalo trail, every weekend is a fun weekend for all.

Among the many different volunteer groups that collaborate under the banner of Horsenden Farm, MindFood help people with depression, anxiety and stress by offering wellness activities such as gardening, mindfulness and crafts. They also offer activities for people who don’t feel confident in their English.

Perivale Hive is literally buzzing with activity, as a community managed library it relies on support from local volunteers to organise craft fairs, a monthly classic cinema club, the weekly knit and natter, a book club, play for small children and yoga sessions. Across the road at the Perivale Community Centre, you can find anything from archery to dance classes.

Perivale is also home to the wonderful Impact Theatre, a charity that hosts large-scale musical productions delivered by adults with learning disabilities and encourages creativity and art to develop communication and self-confidence.

During the workshop, local residents shared their knowledge of Perivale and the diverse activities they participate in. This exchange fostered a deeper sense of connection among attendees, both with each other and with their community of Perivale.

If you are part of a voluntary or community group, residents association or faith space that delivers an activity in Perivale and you want more people to know about it, you can register with Do Something Good to include your group’s activity in the Community Support Directory.
