Poets’ Corner Community Garden

Ongoing Project

We are the Poets’ Corner Community Garden Committee, a group of local residents who volunteer our time to care for and improve the community garden on the corner of Chaucer & Myrtle Roads.

The garden has become an important space for local people to enjoy nature, meet neighbours and take a moment to relax away from the busy pace of everyday life. Throughout the year, committee members help to keep the garden looking its best by watering plants, arranging maintenance, organising gardening activities and tackling litter and fly-tipping. We also organise community events including Christmas carols and mulled wine gatherings, as well as our popular bi-annual street party.

We are delighted to have received funding through Ealing Council’s Your Voice, Your Town programme to support our latest project: restoring and refreshing the artwork on the walls surrounding the garden.

One of the walls currently features a mural that has become faded and weathered over time, while the surrounding walls would benefit from a fresh new look. Using this funding, we will work to restore and improve the artwork to create a brighter, more welcoming space for everyone who uses and passes by the garden. We expect the project to begin over the summer and will share updates with the community as plans develop.

We want this project to do more than simply improve the appearance of the garden. The garden is a shared community space, and we hope the refreshed artwork will help create a stronger sense of pride, ownership and enjoyment for local residents. A vibrant and well-maintained environment can make a real difference to how people experience a neighbourhood, and we are excited to contribute to that positive change.

What excites us most is the opportunity to bring the community together around the project. As well as transforming the look and feel of the garden, we hope to involve local residents wherever possible and celebrate the finished result together.
