Acton Vale’s Youth Club: Investing in Clean Streets and Pleasant Neighbourhoods

Ongoing Project

We are Acton Vale Residents Association, working to make The Vale Estate a cleaner, safer and more welcoming place for everyone.

Residents of The Vale often voiced concerns about litter and noise in the evenings. We also know that many of the young adults (18-24) that congregate on the estate are facing real challenges – Not in Employment, Education or Training (NEET), poor mental health and lack of support. Treating them as a problem hasn’t worked and enforcement alone doesn’t tackle the root cause.

Cut off from the kind of social networks that give life direction and meaning, they find comfort among their peers and are often left with little option but to congregate on the streets.

Funded through the Your Voice Your Town – Acton Town Grant, we are taking a different approach. We are investing in young people by building trust, offering safe spaces, and helping them access the support they need. From June, we’ll run a free weekly youth club in Acton Vale Community Centre, and by September we aim to improve litter facilities across our estate in partnership with Ealing Council.

Our aim is simple: a stronger, more connected community — where young people are supported, and everyone can feel proud of where they live.

You can read more detail about our project in our project plan and about how you can get involved in the ‘Get Involved’ document (both in the Downloads tab).

How you can help

One of the biggest challenges is reaching young people early. If you live or work in Acton, you can help by sharing messages online, signposting places young people gather, supporting fundraising, research or training, or offering specialist skills. Get in touch at avra.committee@outlook.com. Every offer of help is welcomed.
