Ongoing Project
How did our project start?
In June, Mazen, a Year 1 pupil at West Acton Primary School, moved next door to the school. He saw a lot of litter on the street and started to pick it up.
He has now started to litter pick even more and asked his friends in the neighbourhood to join him.
Now, we would like to show that littering is not good because wild animals can get sick and die. Litter picking is better because it is taking away the litter and that means less animals getting sick and dying. It also helps to keep our streets and neighbourhood beautiful.
The project is to get more community members involved in litter picking and to stop littering so that we stop killing animals, especially endangered species.
We also want to teach people about why littering is bad, by making signs and artwork in the community to teach people to stop littering.
Do courage, consideration and collaboration so we can take litter away from our neighbourhood. Courage means to be brave. Collaboration means to work together and consideration means to be kind and thoughtful. And we can use those values to stop litter in our borough, Ealing.
Where will the project happen?
We have noticed a lot of litter in our neighbourhood in West Acton, especially in our green spaces on Noel Road and the North Acton Playing Fields. This makes our neighbourhood less beautiful and comfortable to live in.
The litter picking takes place outdoors on Noel Road, in the green spaces, around West Acton tube, and North Acton Playing Fields.
