Acton Park Pond Rejuvenation

The pond in Acton Park is in a poor state. The surrounding wooden fence is well over 10 years old and has broken down. A temporary high metal fence was put in place to keep the area safe but the pond and surround has not been cleared since September 2024.

In late 2025 we bid for funds via the Ealing Council Your Voice, Your Town scheme to improve the area – and in April 2026 we were awarded £3500 to use for marginal plants, e.g. yellow Iris, white marsh marigolds and variegated slender sweet flag (a grass); pond plant soil, planting bags and gravel; oxygenators; pond edging; pond waders and dipping kits for cleaning and educational use; a metal interpretation panel about pond life; and labour to work with and guide volunteers.

All of this is predicated on the council first replacing the fence and repairing the wooden bridge / platform.

So – once the council work has started, we will be looking for volunteers to help with some of the ground clearance work and planting.

We might need more funds to complete the job but at this stage we do not know how much.
