The Parent Space, Hanwell: Support and Connection

Ongoing Project

The Parent Space – Hanwell/Ealing

Why I set up this project:

I am a parent of a neurodivergent child with autism, ADHD, and additional mental health needs. Like many families, we receive support from professionals—but what was missing was connection with other parents who truly understand day-to-day life.

I created The Parent Space Hanwell because I know there are many families like ours who need a safe, understanding community. A space where you don’t have to explain yourself, where people “get it”, and where you can talk openly, feel supported, and not feel alone.

What is the project?

The Parent Space Hanwell is a supportive community for parents and carers of neurodivergent children. We provide regular, welcoming meet-ups where people can connect, share experiences, and access practical and emotional support.

Our sessions include twice-monthly coffee mornings and monthly evening events. Each session features a guest practitioner or speaker, such as therapists, ADHD coaches, nutritionists, or wellbeing experts. Activities include mindfulness, yoga, creative writing, aromatherapy, and practical home support.

Who is it for?

The project is open to all parents and carers of neurodivergent children of any age. This includes families navigating ADHD, autism, sensory needs, and other additional needs.

Where does it take place?

Our coffee mornings are held at W7 Emporium Café in Hanwell, Ealing. Evening sessions take place locally within the Hanwell/Ealing area.

When does it happen?

Sessions run regularly from April to July 2026.

Coffee mornings take place on Wednesdays:

  • 15 April – Nutrition & ADHD coaching
  • 6 May – Home organisation support
  • 20 May – Sound healing
  • 3 June – Therapeutic gardening
  • 17 June – Relaxation & yoga
  • 1 July – Mindfulness
  • 15 July – Neurodiversity coaching

Evening sessions take place monthly:

  • May – Poetry & creative writing
  • June – Aromatherapy
  • July – Facial massage techniques.

Why is the project needed?

Parents and carers of neurodivergent children often experience isolation, stress, and a lack of tailored support. Many struggle to find spaces where they feel understood.

The Parent Space creates a safe, inclusive environment where people can talk openly, build friendships, and take time for their own wellbeing. It helps reduce isolation and strengthens community connections.

How can people get involved?

Parents and carers can attend any session, connect with others, and join our growing support network. We also run a WhatsApp group and Facebook group where members share advice, resources, and encouragement between sessions.

We welcome new members at any time.

This project will support local families to feel less isolated, more confident, and better equipped to support their children and families.

How you can help

How you can help? You can support this project simply by coming along and being part of the community. By showing up, sharing your experiences, and listening to others, you help create a safe and welcoming space for everyone. We encourage parents and carers to be open, honest, and supportive of one another. Peer support is at the heart of The Parent Space, and every person who attends helps make the space more understanding, inclusive, and valuable. You can also help by sharing information about the group with other families who may benefit, and by contributing ideas, suggestions, or skills that could support future sessions. Together, we are building a strong, supportive community where no one feels alone.
