Have you got an idea to help make young people stay safe and thrive, and/or help build connections between younger and older adults in Greenford?

Whether you’re a local organisation, a local school, community group, faith group, or just someone with a great idea — we want to hear from you.

Your project should help young people aged 11-18 to stay safe and thrive after school or at the weekend, and/or help build connections between younger and older residents in Greenford.

There are three high schools in the surrounding area of Greenford Broadway. between 3-5.30pm, there are close to 5,000 people travelling through this area. Over recent years there has been  informal and formal reports, and increased concerns regarding crime and anti-social behaviour, with incidents of harm to young people and young people sharing that they worry about their safety. Parents and teachers have also shared concerns and taken a variety of action. Older residents have informally shared that they avoid these areas during this time and have less understanding of and interaction with younger people in the area.

Young people have also shared that they would like more safe places to go and more activities to be part of after school and at the weekend  We also know that nationally and locally young people are facing new challenges and have new opportunities that can help them thrive in the future.  We know that for some young people it is harder to find inclusive, safe and affordable activities. Young people have huge amounts to offer each other and their communities but can too often be viewed through a negative lens. We are interested in approaches that recognise, celebrate and support young people to unleash their potential and thrive now and in the future.
