We want to deliver this project because many young people need safe spaces where they feel valued, heard and inspired. Too often, boredom, isolation and lack of opportunity can lead young people towards negative influences or anti-social behaviour. Kitchen Connect offers an alternative — a positive environment where young people can try something new, express themselves creatively and gain skills that will benefit them for years to come.
One of the things we are most excited about is seeing the transformation in the young people taking part. Cooking has a unique way of bringing people together, and we look forward to watching participants grow in confidence each week as they create dishes from scratch, share meals and support one another. We are also excited about the friendships and mentoring relationships that can develop naturally throughout the programme. Sometimes small conversations and shared experiences can have a huge impact on a young person’s future.
We would love the wider community to get involved and support Kitchen Connect. People can help by volunteering their time, donating ingredients or equipment, or simply helping us spread the word about the project. Local businesses and community organisations who would like to partner with us are also encouraged to get in touch. Supporters can follow updates and future opportunities through Cook Stars Ealing facebook and instagram pages and our community channels as the project develops.
Kitchen Connect is about much more than cooking. It is about creating opportunities, building confidence and helping young people in Hanwell feel connected, supported and hopeful about their future.
