14th Acton Scout group revamp

Ongoing Project

We are the 14th Acton Scout Group, part of The Scout Association, a volunteer-led youth organisation based in Acton. We provide opportunities for young people to develop confidence, practical life skills, teamwork, leadership, and a strong sense of citizenship through adventure, learning, and community service.

Thanks to the Your Voice, Your Town – Acton funding, we are planning to refurbish and upgrade our storage room with new shelving to replace our old facilities and help us better organise and safely store equipment. With the remaining funds, we will purchase new equipment that will benefit all of the children in our group for many years to come, helping them learn new skills and work towards a wider range of Scout badges and activities.

As part of this project, we also plan to carry out a number of litter-picking walks around our Scout Hut, the local area, Acton Park, and Southfields Recreation Ground. These activities will encourage young people to take pride in their community and help keep local green spaces clean and welcoming for everyone.

We want to do this because maintaining and improving our Scout Hut ensures that local children continue to have a safe, welcoming place to learn, grow, and socialise for many years to come. Our group is now 97 years old and is the last remaining Scout group in the whole of Acton. It is important to us that future generations continue to have access to Scouting opportunities, practical learning experiences, and the equipment needed to develop valuable life skills.

What excites us most is knowing that these improvements will directly benefit the young people in our community, both now and in the future. We are proud to continue a long tradition of Scouting in Acton while creating opportunities for children to build confidence, learn new skills, make friendships, and contribute positively to their local area.

There are many ways people can get involved. Local residents can support us by volunteering, helping at community events, or joining us during local litter-picking activities. Families interested in Scouting are always welcome to get in touch and find out more about joining the group or supporting our work within the community.

We are incredibly grateful for the support we have received and look forward to continuing to make a positive difference in Acton through this project.

How you can help

Volunteer to help keep 14th Acton Scouts going. You can do this as an adult helper or leader, by supporting events or litter picks, or by donating tools, equipment and general Scouting resources and supplies. As the last remaining Scout group in Acton. Even a small amount of your time helps us continue nearly 100 years of Scouting and ensures that young people have a safe, welcoming place to learn skills and build confidence.
