Bringing Puppets To Life

The Bubble Springtime Community Fund supported some fantastic projects that helped make a real difference to the local community and ultimately, to people’s lives. One of our personal favourites has to be IMPACT’s creation of a life-sized puppet horse!

IMPACT Outreach Network, a theatre company, does some great work providing adults with learning disabilities access to performing and creative arts.

Their innovative and ambitious project, inspired by the play War Horse, gave their learning disabled service users experience working with new materials as they designed and created the puppet.

As you can see from the photographs and video footage, a lot of time, effort, and hard work went into turning large sheets of dense foam in to a life-sized puppet horse and individual horse heads.

And what better way to showcase their talents and achievements than a week of performances shared with the West London community.

Evelyn Gloyn, Neighbourhood Governance Co-ordinator, was lucky enough to get a ticket. She was left truly inspired.

“The high energy and superb quality of the performers transported me to the prairies of wild horses running wild and free – a great place to be after a day in the office. I was overwhelmed by the courage and professionalism of the performers – they are truly inspiring people, not only do they overcome the barriers they face in their lives on a daily basis, but they worked well as a team to bring pleasure and fun to a full house.”
